To post a message to all the list members, send email to cypherpunks@lists.cpunks.org. Note: only list members and whitelisted anonymous remailers can post to the list. All other messages will be silently discarded. If you’re trying to post from a remailer and it doesn’t seem to get through, email the list admin (address below) with the remailer’s exit address and it will be added to the whitelist.
The Cypherpunks list has a long history, and is described (among other places) in Wikipedia. Note, however, that the list is under constant change, and is not necessarily what has been described elsewhere. New subscribers are encouraged to observe the conversation before sending a messages. All subscribers should be aware that the tenor of conversation sometimes is acidic, critical or intolerant. Regrettably, it is sometimes toxic.
Subscribers are also warned that the list is frequented, by observers and posters, by spooks, trolls, and other sources of negative influence, surveillance or disruption. Sabotage, COINTELPRO and other forms of subversion or attack are often observed. Observed behaviors include many known techniques, such as those described in this article, available at Cryptome describing COINTELPRO Techniques for dilution, misdirection and control of an internet forum.
